The intention of the Code is to increase transparency in the publication of public sector data and particularly around how public money is being spent, in order to allow residents to hold local authorities to account over how their council tax is spent and the decisions that tare taken on their behalf.
Seaton with Slingley Parish Council is committed to being open and transparent in its decision making processes and in the spending of taxpayer’s money. The Code requires the on-line publication of information which will provide local tax payers with a clear picture of their council’s activities, spending and governance and improving their ability to hold their local council to account.

Council Structure and Responsibilities
Parish Council
Seaton with Slingley Parish Council consists of 11 Councillors. Councillors are elected every 4 years.
Parish Clerk
The Parish Clerk is the Proper Officer of the Council and deals with the administration of the Council’s affairs including arranging meetings, preparing agendas and writing the minutes of meetings, as well as providing advice and guidance. The Clerk is also the Council’s Responsible Financial Officer and maintains the Council’s accounts.
Chair of the Parish Council
Seaton with Slingley Parish Council’s Chairman, chair’s Council meetings and works closely with the Clerk setting agendas and dealing with urgent matters between meetings. The Chair also attends various functions and events on behalf of he Council.
The current Chair of the Council is Councillor Alyson Slater.
Vice Chair of the Parish Council
The Vice Chair of the Council deputises for the Chair in her absence. The current Vice Chair of the Council is Councillor D Temple.
